Third Person Bio:

In 1983, Eric bought his first computer at the age of eleven. It was a Timex Sinclair 1000. While he quickly out grew it capabilities, it helped to lay a solid foundation of computer fundamentals. In the next 7 years he would upgrade 8 times experiencing many different Operating Systems (TRS-Dos, MS-Dos, OS2, CPM, Apple Dos, Macintosh) and learning to program (BASIC, Pascal, Cobol and Lotus macro language).

From this he began to formulate 10 Easy Steps To Being a Computer Guru concept and curriculum. The idea behind this is that a computer is a “simple” tool, if you understand a few fundamental concepts you can out perform most users and you will start to appear to your peer group as a “computer guru”.

In 1991 Eric joined the US Army and trained to be an Electronic Warfare System Repairer. Eric learned a great deal in the Army. Some of his responsibilities included the guidance and management of a large maintenance facility, leading as many 15 technicians in different disciplines to keep the electronic intelligence capability of an entire light division (about 12,000 soldiers) up and operational. Also during that time he experienced for the first time providing customer service. Along with working for a time as a supply clerk, Eric realized that customer service is often a dance of meeting the customers needs while protecting the service provider’s interests. Eric found it to be both interesting and exciting.

After the Army, Eric went to work for Radio Shack. At Radio Shack, Eric really developed and honed his customer service, management, and selling skills. Eric took the opportunity to participate in the Management Training Program. This provided a chance to be a “fill in manager” for store managers on vacation. Here he got to see many different perspectives on how to do the same job. Taking this with much of his experience with computer and electronics, Eric realized how any tool (or program) can be used for any job. Simply that some tools are more suited for some jobs and less for others, and to a hammer (one kind of tool) ever problem look s looks like a nail (something only the tool can solve).

Eric started too focused primarily on the MS Windows environment, realizing it’s dominance of the business world. As with before the Army, most of the skills that Eric has acquired were self taught. Discovering the internet in 1998, really allowed him to grow. Now if he didn’t know how to do some thing, find someone who did was only a few click away. He calls him self a “super user” when asked about his computer skills. In 2000 he put up his first website and had it hosted with Yahoo. He has designed, setup, hosted numerous websites both personally and for other people.

Eric became involved with internet marketing in 2003. In late 2005 he became interested in blogs, Wordpress in particular. His is currently using Wordpress as a CMS (content management system) on several websites. Eric is well grounded in internet marketing. He has studied and worked with most of the major concept and methods currently used. And he keeps current by following several blog, and subscribing to many mailing lists.
